India boasts of a rich collection of stallions of international rating. Concerted efforts have been made by Indian breeders in recent years to upgrade the quality by importing well-performed stallions with impeccable credentials along with mares out of reputed stallions. Indian breeding has reached great heights, with some of the Indian breds making their mark at Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Mauritius. In fact, Dr Vijay Mallya owned Adler became the first Indian bred ever to win a race in the USA. In the coming years, more and more Indian breds are slated to race in the South Asian countries.
