Napoleon, the property of Mr. Adil Mirza, trained by Laxman Singh, lifted the richly endowed Kr. Ralendra Singh Memorial Golconda Million (Gr.III). Orient Glory made the early running and brought the field on the straight. As the race got to a boil, Aprillia was quick to rally along the shortest way while Napoleon preferred to gallop widest of all. In a fraction, Napoleon strode out with telling strides to pocket the prize money of over 1.1 Million Rupees. Rapture of Victory beat Aprillia for the runner-up berth in the closing stages of the race.

Trainer Prasad Raju had a profitable day with a rich haul of three winners. With this, his position in the trainer’s tally was further strengthened. Dancing Touch produced yet another dash to move from the fifth position to win the R.C.T.C. Cup in a convincing manner. This was the third victory for Dancing Touch this season. Red Fairy, who had led from the start, lost out the second position to Vijayraaj at the wire.

Flashy Conquest won the higher division of the Artistic Tribute Plate. With Stephen Carson astride, Flashy Conquest had a pillar to post victory while the course favourite Sorbitrate chased the winner throughout. Esperanza moved in late to finish third.

Alberton Star has been in rousing form this season winning five races from seven starts. The fifth win was in the lower division of the Green Smith Plate, run over six furlongs. Settling behind the front runner Chamatkar till the distance marker, Alberton Star relished Imran Khan’s company and shot ahead for a clear win. Heydan and Mighty Prince took the second and third places respectively while Chamatkar ended up fourth.

Trainer L.V.R. Deshmukh, Jockey P.S. Chouhan and Owner Col. S.B. Nair combined to score a back to back double through Sweet Heart and Young Sapper. Sweet Heart got the better of Divine Ganges in the final 100 metres of the Bonzer Cup, run over 2,200 metres. Green and Gold V, the popular silks of Col. S.B. Nair were in the winners circle in the very next race, the lower division of the Artistic Tribute Plate. Young Sapper beat the field with a smashing turn of foot. Travelling four off the fence, the youngster responded well when Jockey Chouhan asked for an effort and won with a measure of comfort. Kathakali, Striking Gold, Flowers of Music, Senorita and Firstansforemost finished in that order in a cluster, all covered within one length.

Apprentice Kiran Naidu rode a neat and confident race on the hot favourite Surya Putra in the R.S. Jhunjunwala Memorial Cup. Setting out in right earnest from the word ‘go’, Naidu kept his mount close to the inner rails and scored an easy victory. The Beatles Angel, Hunting Bay and Dancing Harbour filled the frame in a close finish.

Young Faisal Hassan scored a double with Splendid Act and Ultra Violet Ray. Splendid Act settled in second position till the top of the straight while the more favoured stablemate Tristar was finding it hard at the wrong end. In the last 200 metres, Splendid Act surged ahead to win while Al Jadeed and Flaming Ruby fought on for the second place.

Faisal’s Ultra Violet Ray surprised racing pundits in the concluding race of the day. Running with the front bunch till midway up the straight, Ultra Violet Ray raced ahead and thwarted the late attempt of Citi Dancer.

Prasad Raju with three wins, Deshmukh, Faisal Hassan, P.S. Chouhan and Imran Khan with two wins each were the professionals in the limelight on Sunday at Hyderabad.
