Beyond Proves Too Hot to Compare |
How a horse benefits with a racing run after overcoming the fitness problems! Beyond Compare proved its might lifting the Delhi Race Club Racing Officials Cup on Thursday. The day also turned out to be a memorable one for the five horses who landed spoilsports for the first time this season and that too towards the fag end. Jockey Syeed Amjad Khan, trainers
Roopendra Singh Shekhawat and Magan Singh shared a brace each. After bagging two races in the early part of the season, the Magan Singh-trained Beyond Compare spent months in its quest to retain form. He ran bravely to be fifth giving an indication of his potential around the first week of this month. Today, he took only first 100m to warm up and after that rivals Ashwa Prabha and Oyster Blue had nothing left but to bow down and finish second and third respectively. The chestnut gelding should reach the top class, while the other two along with fourth place holder Yourethetouch are capable of achieving success. An amazing turn of foot by Turkish Doll left the field dancing to her tune. The four year-old filly, who has the habit of making a slow beginning was sent off without blinker and kinetic nose band. She has practiced with cheeks and basket bit and that clicked. Turkish Doll, of course, missed the jump but soon recovered and caught up with the field. The favourite and runner-up Ashwa Shourya, even with all his efforts, was unable to come near the front-runner. An easy ride on Gangajal enabled her to be close third. Jockey Deepak Kamble Ashish, who lost the race on Ashwa Shourya, corrected himself by helping Ashwa Panna shed her maiden status in the Sweet Relation Plate. Kiana once again failed to live up to expectations. A longer trip should suit her strides. The Mafia, who ran third, should be in different shape in the next calendar. Gin And Tonic eventually returned to the winning block by making every post a winning one in the Smooth Operation Plate, which was the last class one event of the prospectus. Shubh Shubh found the trip a little sharp. Anamika made mincemeat of the lower class field in the upper division of the Fair Racing Plate. The junior division of the plate saw Little Cut routing the counterparts to post the season's first victory. |
