Khaleel’s Pride, owned and trained by Leo D’Silva, made light of the heavy impost of 63.5 kilos and won the A.P. Race Horse Owners Association Trophy, in taking style. Setting out in front, right from the start in the seven-furlong trip, Khaleel’s Pride, made his three rivals sweat it out. Pleasing Display was in futile chase throughout, while Champ Forever finished third ahead of Hurricane Bay.

Leo’s Clever Ploy lifted the supporting event of the day, the Nawab Arshad Ali Khan Memorial Cup, run over 2,400 metres. Danzsingh was fighting for his head in the first furlong and the rider let his mount go to the front and led till the field turned for home. On top of the straight, Clever Ploy surged ahead and won as she liked. Nano War just managed to push Vijayam to the third place.

Satheesh and Imran, combined to send out a well-deserved double. Scamper was a runaway winner in the Mystical Cup, run over 2,000 metres. Scamper hit the front from the word ‘go’ and established a four-length lead till the final bend. With 400 metres left in the race, Scamper, drew away to win by a distance. Monduro finished second ahead of Zulima.

Imran had to work hard on his second winner, Super Brand, in the higher division of the Elite Zone Plate. Super Brand took over from the early leader Page Three, on top of the straight and had to battle out with Cannon Scot, Acciaccatura and Essence. At one stage it looked as if Essence would do the trick but Imran’s strong riding on Super Brand shrugged off Essence.

Faisal Hassan’s Tristar won the opening race in a three-way finish. A Fire Work was clear, by over three lengths, 100 metres from home but started to drastically slow down. Tristar, racing just behind A Fire Work, took the opportunity and surged ahead to just win from Sweet Heart, who came from out of the blue to finish a close second. Had the rider been more alert on his mount, Sweet Heart, could have well reversed the result in her favour.

Jockey M.Mark, who rode Tristar to victory in the lower division of the Accomplish Plate, pulled off a win on Tillcowscomehome in the higher division. Royal Degree, who made a valiant bid and finished second, raised an objection against the winner for hitting the face of his horse with the whip. The stewards after deliberations overruled the objection.

The last two races of the day, the two divisions of the Top Most Plate, were bagged by N. Narayan Rao’s wards at juicy odds. Cannon Act swept past the tiring Tommy Hilfiger and won warding off Blue Magic’s late challenge, in the higher division. Royal Quest won the lower division, with a start to finish attempt. The two upsets brought the jackpot pool crashing down and three lucky punters went home with Rs.1.82 lakh in their pockets to celebrate Diwali.
