The A. P. Chief Minister's Cup run over the metric mile turned out to be
a match race between Ruby Queen and Coral Gables with Bold Blast not declared to start. J. H. Christopher was replaced by jockey Harish after Chris reported sick earlier in the day. Harish who is riding with tremendous confidence this season didn't let this opportunity slip out of his hand. Ruby Queen went to the front as the two were dispatched with Coral Gables preferring to wait till the straight. On the home stretch Coral Gables unleashed a run with a terrific turn of foot to pass the winning post three lengths ahead of his only opponent.
Jockey Suraj Narredu increased his tally by two, winning both the divisions of The Sea Of Diamonds Plate. Both his winners stepped out of the paddock as odds on favourites. The upper division was won by Classic dancer who just about managed to hold on from Zorbonaut. Suraj Narredu managed to keep his mount Classic Dancer close to the inner rails and travelled straight and this helped him to ward off Zorbonaut's challenge. Ninja Power led till the top of the straight and gave up finishing third, ahead of Smarty Prince. Fantastic Boy was withdrawn as he turned out to be troublesome at the gates.

Earth Bender beat the field hallow in the lower division. Tommy
Hilfiger shot into the front as the gates opened and led till the
final bend before fading out. Suraj Narredu guided Earth Bender to the
front and this three year old gelding drew away to win like a champion, giving Suraj a back to back double. Grand Slam was permitted to be withdrawn on veterinary grounds.
It was a close finish in The Totarams Cup with the first four horses being covered in one frame. Spruce Springstie had slipped into the lead on the straight and was shaping like a winner when Touch Of Gold
unleashed a terrific run from the rear to emerge victorious close home
from Spruce Springstie by half a length. Mission Chief and Classic Art
also got close towards the end to fill the frame. The favourite
Lancashire finished fifth. Jockey J.H. Christopher who was recovering
from a bout of viral fever could not give his best on Lancashire and preferred to stay out for the rest of the day on medical grounds saving more blushes for the stable.
Jockey Harish who replaced J.H. Christopher for the rest of the day
made full use of this windfall, winning all the three chance mounts.
The first of it came in the second division of The Camino Plate run
over six furlongs. Kohinoor Fairytale had assumed command at about 300
meters from home when Ivory Snow who lay in about seventh position at the bend, passed almost half a dozen horses to win the race. The favourite Storm Command finished third and Chamatkar fourth.
After winning The A.P.Chief Minister's Cup, Harish went on to score a
hat trick thus completing a quadruple. A quite gamble was pulled out
from the stables of trainer Shamsuddin through Jaan Baaz in The
Hovercraft Plate. Having run three races this season with jockey
Shaikh Farookh, Shamshuddin preferred to give the reins to Harish.
Jaan Baaz was settled in fifth position in this fifteen horse field.
Cherokee Fighter took the initiative and went into the lead on the
straight. Harish brought Jaan Baaz to challenge Cherooke Fighter at the distance post and went clear to wrap up the race. Greatballofchina and Turning Point took the minor placing.
It had begun to rain before the concluding race and the light was
fading as early as quarter to five at Hyderabad. The favourite Easy
Flash took it up at the top of the straight but jockey Harish brought Bakersfield into contention and after a brief duel went past Easy Flash to win by half a length. Green Vision and Hardccore filled the
frame.
Trainer M. Sathyanarayana was all too happy to lead Cannon Treasure,
his second winner in the day. Fearless Flame set the pace and on the
home stretch the favourite Lucky Damsel looked to collar the leader
but Fearless Flame galloped with renewed vigour to keep the fight
alive. Cannon Treasure had travelled in the rear till the 1100 meters
and was brushed up quickly to run a close third by the time the field entered the home stretch. Cannon Treasure who was trying his best to raise a gallop on the straight flew in the last 30 meters to win.
On a day when four firm favourites obliged, trainer M. Sathyanarayana
scored a double as his more accomplished colleague, L.D'Silva led in
three winners. Among the saddle artists it was a great day for Harish who ended up with a rich haul of four winners. Suraj Narredu picked up two races.
