Official sources confirmed on Sunday after the emergency Stewards meeting, that the situation at RCTC is grim but not out of control. About thirty or so horses suffering from high fever at Hastings stables have been segregated and a leading veterinary doctor from Bangalore will be visiting the city on Monday to assess the situation and the type of virus that the animals are suffering from. All to-and-fro movement of horses at Hastings has been suspended until the vet gives the green light.
RCTC will take a decision on Wednesday on their next course of action. Till such time, the local racing fraternity will be kept in limbo regarding the commencement of the Winter meet, scheduled for November 9.
