Sinclair Marshall retained his post as President, Jockeys Association of India unopposed for the 24th year on the trot. In the 37th Annual General Meeting of the Association, Sinclair was unanimously elected. In his speech, the veteran jockey addressed a well-attended meeting, opening the proceedings with a one minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls of some prominent racing personalities including jockey Anand Gawade, apprentice jockey Pramod Goud, ex-jockey GJ Newman, and also ex-Senior Stipendiary Steward of the BTC Mr. Narsimhan, ex-Secretary of Madras Race Club Mr. Dharmasenan Ebenezer and one of India's leading owners Mr. S. Rangarajan.

Marshall then elaborated on the achievements of the association in terms of Group Personal Accident Insurance, Family Floater Mediclaim policy for the entire immediate families of member jockeys and retirement benefits to jockeys. He also stated that there was an increase in the out-of-saddle allowance to the injured jockeys, ex-jockeys and jockeys’ medical relief fund, disabled jockeys’ fund and also stressed on the scheme of compulsory contribution towards retirement benefits for the member jockeys.

Marshall proceeded to explain the outcome of the meeting with the Turf Authorities of India in March earlier this year, during the Invitation Cup weekend at Hyderabad. He thanked the Turf Authorities for the favourable consideration in increasing the mount fees and out-of-saddle allowance for the jockeys. He also informed the members that appeals to the Turf Authorities regarding Centralized Appeal Board, Legal Representation and Centralized licensing body had been disagreed by the Turf Authority of India.

Marshall wheedled the jockeys to take an active part and volunteer in working with the Association towards the welfare of both current and erstwhile jockeys, to suggest and support measures for the protection of the profession and work towards the welfare of all jockeys.
