The Marketing Working Group of The Royal Western India Turf Club Ltd, led by Its Chairman Mr Vivek Jain, has succeeded in getting a very attractive Proposal for sponsorship of The Indian Turf Invitation Cup Weekend starting With Mumbai in 2009. This proposal is for a period of five years. It is Common knowledge that the five Turf Authorities in our country have the Privilege of holding this event by rotation. Hence, this sponsorship will Cover all the Turf Authorities.

The sponsoring company is HIRCO, of the Hiranandani Group, and the races Will be run as The Hirco Turf Invitation Cup, The Hirco Sprinters Cup and The Hirco Stayers Cup. The Hiranandani Group has been famous for its real Estate development projects in Mumbai. They have now spread their activities To most parts of India, and are reported to be doing large projects in Dubai. Their new found interest in this sport augurs well for Indian Racing , and the added money shall make these races more attractive. The total Sponsorship value, for each year, is proposed at 105 lacs including value of Trophies, for the three above mentioned races. At the end of the five year Cycle, the Sponsoring Company will have the first right of refusal, on terms Mutually agreeable to both parties.

The Indian Turf Invitation Cup Weekend had become synonymous with ITC Ltd Since the company had been the sponsor of these races for many years before They decided to terminate the arrangement. The racing awards are Traditionally held on the eve of this big race. The last six years have seen The various Turf Authorities holding these special weekends on their own. The arrival of a new sponsor shall add a lot of colour and glamour to the Most prestigious event in the Indian Racing Calendar. The above proposal Shall be officially ratified at the meeting of the Chairmen, Turf Authorities of India to be held on the Monday after the Kingfisher Bangalore Derby at that centre.
