After two days of trotting and rolling their charges, most trainers and officials at this centre are hopeful that the winter meeting at Calcutta will commence on New Year's Day. The horses have been responding well to track work.
The Pyrexia of Unknown Origin (POU) which had affected more than half the horses stabled in Kolkata, is now a thing of the past. Pretty soon horses will be seen doing fast work and participating in mock races, the turf club officials feel.
Thus, RCTC is likely to be back on even keel with the advent of the New Year.
