The
Stewards of the Mysore Race Club have come down hard on erring
professionals and handed out a spate of suspensions on Wednesday, which
were followed by the stiffest sentence in the history of Mysore racing
to trainer Prashanth Pawar and jockey Arun Rao on Thursday. The licences
of both these professionals has been withdrawn till the end of the
season and they have been referred to the Stewards of the Bangalore Turf
Club, with a recommendation that their licences should be withdrawn for
a period of five years under section 202 of the BTC Rules of Racing for
fraudulent practice with regard to the running and riding of Thief of
the Knight in the Div.I of the Kolar Plate during Wednesday’s races.

RACE NO.120: THE TUTICORIN PLATE (ABOUT) 1200 METRES, FOR HORSES
RATED 40 TO 70:
In continuation of the enquiry held by the Stewards on 22.5.2007,
24.5.2007 and 30.5.2007, pertaining to the running and riding of dkb g
ASSAYE, trained by Mr. Prashanth Pawar and ridden by Jockey Arun Rao in
the above race, the Stewards held further enquiry into the same after
the last race on 7th June, 2007, and interviewed both the Trainer and
Jockey concerned.
After deliberations,
they decided to:

Note the explanation
tendered by Trainer Mr. Prashanth Pawar pertaining to running of his
charge, dkb g ASSAYE; &
-
Give the benefit of a
grave doubt to Jockey Arun Rao pertaining to his riding on his mount,
dkb g ASSAYE, in the race; &
-
Suspend Jockey’s
Licence granted to Arun Rao from 22nd June, 2007, to 25th
July, 2007 (both days inclusive), for tendering misleading evidence
during the course of the enquiry and thereby, trying to mislead the
enquiry officers by submitting false records (Rule 202 of the BTC
Rules of Racing).

WEDNESDAY, 6TH JUNE, 2007
RACE NO.31: THE
KOLAR PLATE – DIV. I (ABOUT) 1400 METRES
The Stewards held an enquiry after the last race on Thursday, 7th
June, 2007, pertaining to the running and riding of b.g. THIEF OF THE
KNIGHT, trained by Mr. Prashanth Pawar and ridden by Jockey Arun Rao and
interviewed the Trainer and Jockey concerned.
After deliberations, they decided to:

Suspend the Trainer’s
Licence granted to Mr. Prashanth Pawar with effect from 22nd
June, 2007, till 25th July, 2007 (both days inclusive), and
further refer him to the Stewards of the Bangalore Turf Club Limited,
Bangalore, for necessary further action with a recommendation that if
he applies for grant of Trainer’s Licence, the same should not be
granted till the year 2012 for indulging in fraudulent and dishonest
act with respect to his charge, b.g. THIEF OF THE KNIGHT, and also for
tendering false and misleading evidence during the course of the
enquiry (Rule 202 of the BTC Rules of Racing).

Suspend Jockey Arun
Rao from riding in races from 22nd June, 2007, till 25th
July, 2007 (both days inclusive), not permit him to ride work during
the period of suspension and refer him to the Stewards of the
Bangalore Turf Club Limited, Bangalore, with a recommendation that if
he applies for grant of Jockey’s Licence, the same should not be
granted till the year 2012 for indulging in fraudulent and dishonest
act by deliberately removing his left leg from the stirrup (Rule
No.202 of the BTC Rules of Racing) while riding on his mount, b.g.
THIEF OF THE KNIGHT, in the above race.

Race: The Prince Regent Plate (About) 1400 Metres
The Stipendiary Stewards
reported Trainer Mr. M Bobby to the Stewards for inconsistent pattern of
running and reversal of form of his charge, b.g. EXECUTIVE SPIRIT,
ridden by Jockey R.B. Shinde, the winner of this race, as compared to
its previous run in Race No.11 of the Mysore Summer Races 2007, i.e.,
The Oncidium Plate (About) 1200 Metres, for horses rated 30 and below,
held on 24th May, 2007, when ridden by Jockey S John, it ran
unplaced.
The
Stewards held an enquiry after the last race and interviewed Trainer Mr.
M.Bobby. After deliberations, they decided to fine Trainer Mr. M Bobby
Rs.10,000/- for inconsistent pattern of running and reversal of form of
his charge, b.g. EXECUTIVE SPIRIT, the winner of this race, as compared
to its previous run in Race No.11 of the Mysore Summer Races 2007, run
on 24.5.2007, when ridden by Jockey S.John, it ran unplaced.
6th Race: The Nagamangala Plate (About) 1200 Metres
The
Stipendiary Stewards reported Trainer Mr. Rakesh and Jockey Melvyn
Maseyk to the Stewards pertaining to the running and riding of b.m.
EVERLASTING JOY, in the above race.
The
Stewards held an enquiry after the last race and interviewed both the
Trainer and Jockey concerned. After deliberations, they decided to:
a)
Suspend Trainer’s Licence
granted to Mr. Rakesh with effect from 21st June, 2007, till
the end of Mysore Summer Races 2007 and refer the matter to the Stewards
of the Bangalore Turf Club Limited, Bangalore, for further action, for
unsatisfactory running of his charge, b.m. EVERLASTING JOY, in the above
race and for tendering misleading evidence during the enquiry under BTC
Rules of Racing; &
b)
Suspend Jockey’s Licence
granted to Jockey Melvyn Maseyk with effect from 21.6.2007 to 25.7.2007
(both days inclusive), not permit him for ride work during the period of
suspension and refer the matter to the Stewards of the Bangalore Turf
Club Limited, Bangalore, for further action, for not permitting his
mount, b.m. EVERLASTING JOY, to run on its merit (Rule No.159 (a) and
(b)) in the above race.
The
Stipendiary Stewards reported Trainer Mr. N.A. Ponnappa and Jockey K.P.G.
Appu to the Stewards pertaining to the running and riding of ch.g.
NORDIC STAR, in the above race.
The
Stewards held an enquiry after the last race and interviewed both the
Trainer and Jockey concerned. After deliberations, they decided as
under:

inconsistent pattern of running and reversal of form of his charge, b.g.
SWIFT SWORD, ridden by Jockey K Suresh, the winner of the above race, in
relation to its previous run in Race No.8 of the Mysore Summer Races
2007, i.e., The Karanji Lake Plate – Div. I (About) 1200 Metres, for
horses rated 20 to 50, run on 23/5/2007, when ridden by Jockey P
Krishna, it ran unplaced.
The
Stewards held an enquiry after the last race and interviewed Trainer Mr.
Bipin V Salvi. After deliberations, they decided to fine Trainer Mr.
Bipin V. Salvi Rs.10,000/- for the inconsistent pattern of running and
reversal of form of his charge, b.g. SWIFT SWORD, ridden by Jockey K
Suresh, the winner of the above race, as compared to previous run in
Race No.8 of the Mysore Summer Races, run on 23.5.2007, when ridden by
Jockey P Krishna, it ran unplaced.
