Darley Stud acquires Authorized

Sheikh Mohammed was reportedly so impressed by the three-year-old Montjeu colt's performance at Epsom last Saturday that Darley Stud moved quickly to acquire him for an undisclosed sum.

"Authorized has been bought by Darley as a future stallion," read a statement on www.darley.co.uk.

"The horse has been leased back to the current owners Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar.

"He will continue to be trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam and managed for the owners by Mr Tony Nerses."

 
Authorized, who has won three of his four career starts is now being targeted at the Gr.1 Coral Eclipse Stakes on July 7 where he will take on older horses for the first time. The step back in trip to 10 furlongs for his next outing does not worry his connections as the colt had won the Dante Stakes over a similar distance prior to his Derby success.
