Top Indian Jockeys to compete in South Africa

Jun 23, 2006

B.Prakash, Mallesh Narredu and KPG Appu will represent India in an international jockeys challenge at the Post Merchants race meeting to be held at Clairwood Racecourse, Durban on June 26 where they will take on nine top local riders.

The jockeys challenge consists of five races and the mounts will be picked by a draw of lots. This competition will add tremendous interest to the meeting that features the 200,000 Rand, Grade 2 Post Merchants over 1200 metres and the 100,000 Rand, Listed Thukela Handicap over 1600 metres.

The two feature events will not form part of the challenge competition which the organizers hope will become an annual event with riders from other Asian countries also taking part.
