The second meeting of the Pune racing season, which got off in testing conditions yesterday, to be held here today was called off by the RWITC authorities at around 11 a.m. this morning after extended deliberations.

The estate officer of the Pune racecourse was confident that the monsoon track was conducive to horseracing despite the incessant rains all through Saturday and the following night till the final inspections of the track was made before arriving at the decision.

The club authorities are trying to contact the racing correspondents via mobile phones and are also employing the Short Messaging Service (SMS) to inform the cancellation of races. However, there was no further communication from the club on this issue.
