The first three of the 28 races framed for the two-year-old horses have been declared void owing to paucity of entries. If such cancellations suit the two heavyweight owners, it has put small owners and trainers in a quandary in view of major race events for juveniles line up next month. “Big owners are in a position to dispatch their youngsters to outstation centers. They have to think about us,” said a small owner who did not want to be named. The owner, it is learnt, was lured by the club officials to buy a share in youngsters last year against some promises. “Big owners are engaged in settling their personal score. Why are we made to suffer,” asked the owner.

On record there are eighty-eight two-year-olds stabled at the Hastings. While no one is contesting the figure as most of them are seen at the morning workouts but small and second-string owners have right to question the hidden motive of those who control the city’s horseracing. Further, most of the youngsters are yet to be named. Of the recent list supplied by the club names of only 34 of the 88 have been found to be registered. About 10 days ago, when asked about why this delay, RCTC secretary Boman Parakh said; “Hopefully, the list will be complete in a week’s time.”
