The two year olds are already stabled at the stables of the Pune Race Course and can be inspected and viewed as required by the prospective buyers. However, organized rolling by the horses will commence from Jan 30 2004 with a break on Feb 1, being the day the prestigious Indian Derby will be run at the Mahalaxmi, Mumbai. Horses will be rolled thereafter from Monday to Thursday giving the buyers eight full sessions with another morning session on Friday to make their final selections.
A total of 593 two year olds have been entered for the sale. However, the actual number of arrivals at Pune is expected to be around 350 to 400, which is the norm.
The Auction Sale gives a nice opportunity for owning a quality thoroughbred with attendant privileges at a relatively small financial outlay, and if one has made up one’s mind then the Auction Sale is the best place to start as it offers a wide variety of choices. Syndicated ownership is also possible.
The objective of the sales is, as always, to ensure maximum value for both the breeders and the owners. Members of the public are welcome on all days and they would surely find the mornings and evenings of Feb 4 and Feb 5 as interesting as the final Sale in the paddock on Feb 6.
